Non-Traditional and Transfer Student Support is part of Campus Life. We provide a holistic approach to supporting non-traditional students and transfer students.

We can provide you with personal guidance on transferring to OSU. Including connecting courses you've already taken that can be transferred, as well as, choosing the best courses to take at your current school that can transfer. We aim to help you choose the best path to achieve your academic goals on your schedule.

Coordinator of Non-Traditional and Transfer Student Support

Position Open.
Campus Life’s mission is to enhance the student experience through intentional opportunities that promote belonging, engagement, and support. Student connection and involvement on campus positively contribute to a student’s sense of belonging and their collegiate experience. The Coordinator of Non-Traditional and Transfer Student Support will promote non-traditional and transfer student success after transitioning to OSU by providing access to information and assistance with direct, individualized service; and by creating support services and activities that lead to students' sense of belonging and connection to OSU. The coordinator will contribute to and implement a strategic plan to advance initiatives for non-traditional students and transfer students to support needs and address their unique challenges. The coordinator is part of a team supporting students with various identities and life experiences.  

Responsibilities

Transfer Student Initiatives

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic plan to advance transfer student initiatives on campus.  
  • Plan and implement comprehensive support services for transfer students, such as facilitating workshops to assist students with transitioning into and out of the university.  
  • Identify key goals, objectives, and action steps to support transfer students' success and address their unique challenges.  
  • Collaborate with campus partners to offer strategic advisement and support to transfer students.  
  • Host annual Transfer Student Week on campus in collaboration with campus partners. 
  • Host Welcome Week event/s to welcome transfer students to campus and provide orientation to key resources.  
  • Facilitate programs for transfer students to foster a sense of belonging and connection to campus and our community. 
  • Develop and maintain learning outcomes for programs based on research and best practices for transfer students. 
  • Assess program learning outcomes and student engagement. 
  • Develop and execute a communication plan for transfer students during their first year at OSU and at key achievements.  
  • Develop and facilitate a transfer student mentor program utilizing current students who transferred to OSU as well as faculty/staff who were transfer students themselves.   
  • Advise the Transfer Student Association and Tau Sigma Transfer Honor Society. 

Non-traditional Student Initiatives

  • Plan and implement comprehensive support services for non-traditional students. 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic plan to support non-traditional students.  
  • Identify key goals, objectives, and action steps to support students' success and address their unique challenges.  
  • Develop and deliver program initiatives to support non-traditional students’ transition to college and foster a sense of belonging.   
  • Actively monitor students identified as non-traditional to support their success. 
  • Host annual event for National Non-Traditional Student Week on campus in collaboration with campus partners. 

Contributions to the Overall Student Support Initiatives

  • Provide direct student success assistance personally and utilizing cross-campus partnerships. 
  • Meet individually with students identified as needing additional support.  
  • Address other student support needs as they are discovered.  
  • Execute interventions to support unengaged students. 
  • Consult with academic advisors, residential life, admissions, tutors, success coaches, student accessibility, and other campus partners. 
  • Engage with NASPA or other associations to remain informed on student support and initiatives related to this position’s responsibilities. 
  • Develop relationships and work closely with areas within Campus Life, Undergraduate Admissions, Student Success/college-based academic advising, Hargis Leadership Institute, Career Services and/or other student support services across campus.  
  • Collaborate with Undergraduate Admissions to facilitate a smooth transition for non-traditional and transfer students to OSU, including providing presentations at orientation and enrollment sessions and hosting a table at browse sessions.  

 

Administration

  • Maintain webpages and develop resources to support non-traditional and transfer students. 
  • Utilize student record databases to monitor and maintain student records such as Banner and Slate. 
  • Engage in professional development and research related to supporting students related to this position’s responsibilities.   
  • Submit timely requests for purchases and maintain financial records. 
  • Compile information as needed for the Foundation and donors.  
  • Collect data and conduct assessments to contribute to an annual report.  
  • Meet with your supervisor and keep them informed of your responsibilities regularly.   
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to Campus Life and Student Affairs.
