How to Join

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs (F&SA) hopes this page will answer your questions and provide information. The fraternity and sorority experience promotes individual, organizational and community development. These organizations are also rich in tradition. Many fraternities and sororities designate their organizations by using Greek letters, which have special meaning to their membership. Each organization has unique mottos, ritual, and creeds that unite members in brotherhood/sisterhood, growth, scholarship, community service and leadership. All fraternities and sororities are values-based organizations with high ethical standards.

Where do I get started?

Each council has a unique way of selecting new members, so click the dropdown boxes below to learn more about how to join!

  • Interfraternity Council

    Informal Recruitment

Recruitment, simply stated, is the membership selection process. Across the nation, universities execute this process at the beginning of their fall or spring semester. Here at OSU our IFC recruitment process is informal, meaning that the bulk of our recruitment occurs during the summer and in the spring semester. Oklahoma State's Interfraternity Council (IFC) has implemented a registration process for potential new members of OSU fraternities.

  • Multicultural Greek Council

    Intake Process

The Multicultural Greek Council member organizations recruit potential new members throughout the year on an informal basis through a process known as "Intake." Each member organization of MGC has their own way to recruit new members. This is why it is important to get to know each organization to understand their unique process. Each organization has a different set of membership requirements for academic success, community and college involvement.

  • National Pan-Hellenic Council

    Intake Process

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) participates in a deferred recruitment commonly known as the Membership Intake Process (MIP). Before an individual can join a NPHC organization, he or she must have accumulated 12 or more credit hours at Oklahoma State, earned a 2.5 cumulative GPA, be in good standing with the University and attended NPHC Convocation in the academic year (or a semester before) the student plans to participate in intake.

  • Panhellenic Council

    Formal & COB Recruitment

We have two opportunities for women to join one of our 13 National Panhellenic Conference sororities at Oklahoma State University. "Fall Recruitment" takes place one week prior to the first week of school, and all 13 chapters participate. "Continuous Open Bidding" is an informal recruitment process that begins on the last day of Fall Recruitment and concludes with first day of Pre-Finals Week in the Spring. Not every chapter participates in Continuous Open Bidding.

Parent Resources

All fraternities and sororities must adhere to federal, state, local and University policies and procedures. In line with self-governing philosophies employed when advising the fraternity and sorority community, IFC, MGC, Panhellenic, and NPHC Council constitutions and policies are the responsibility of the councils to enforce.
